When clicking the refresh button isn't enough to resolve an issue with the WorkPlace Portal, there are other options to empty the website's cache, do a hard reload, or even clear all cookies. This process varies from browser to browser.
Modern browsers cache websites to increase performance and reduce load times. While this can be convenient, there are times when a hard refresh is necessary to clear this cache and load the latest resources.
Hard Refresh
A hard refresh will clear the browser's cache for a specific page. This will be similar to a normal refresh and won't clear passwords or cookies.
Chrome for Windows
1. Hold down Ctrl and click the refresh button in the browser.
2. Or, Hold down Ctrl and press F5.
3. Alternatively, open the Chrome Dev Tools by pressing F12. With the dev tools open, right click on the refresh button to see a drop down menu with options to Hard Reload or Empty Cache and Hard Reload.
Chrome for Mac
1. Hold down Shift (⇧) and click the refresh button in the browser.
2. Or, hold down Command (⌘) and Shift (⇧) keys and press R.
3. Alternatively, open the Chrome Dev Tools by pressing Command (⌘) Option (⌥) I. With the dev tools open, right click on the refresh button to see a drop down menu with options to Hard Reload or Empty Cache and Hard Reload.
Mozilla Firefox for Windows
1. Hold down Ctrl and press F5.
2. Or, hold down Ctrl and Shift (⇧) and press R.
Mozilla for Mac
1. Hold down Shift (⇧) and click the refresh button in the browser.
2. Or, hold down Command (⌘) and Shift (⇧) and press R.
Internet Explorer
1. Hold down Ctrl and click the refresh button in the browser.
2. Or, hold down Ctrl and press F5.
Clearing browser cache and cookies
Anytime you clear your browser cookies you will be logged out and lose cached information. When a hard refresh doesn't work, this is a good solution to completely refresh your browser of any cached resources.
